Garrett Augustus Morgan was born in Paris, Kentucky, on March 4, 1877. An African-American inventor and businessman, he never let his skin color get in the way of accomplishing great things. Nothing signified this more than what happened in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1916. Although he’s a very important figure in our history, he’s still unknown to many Americans. This also includes many African-Americans.
